This policy explains what the app does with your information. The short version: almost everything stays on your phone.
What stays on your device
These never leave your phone. We cannot read them, and they are not backed up to any server we control:
- Your journal entries and the feelings you log
- Your garden, streak, and achievements
- Verses you highlight
- Your name, season of life, and what you said you'd like to work on
If you delete the app, this information is gone.
Your voice
When you speak to Embark Bible, your speech is transcribed by Apple's speech recognition. Depending on your device, Apple may process this on the device or on Apple's servers — this is Apple's system, governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
We never record or store audio. The transcribed text becomes a journal entry on your device.
What is sent off the device
Three features need the internet. Each sends only what that request needs, and none of it is stored by us:
- Spoken audio. Text to be read aloud is sent to xAI to generate speech.
- Talking with a character. What you type or say in a conversation is sent to Anthropic to generate a reply.
- New Living Translation. If you use NLT, chapter references are sent to Tyndale House to fetch the text. The Berean Standard Bible is bundled in the app and needs no connection.
These pass through our own server, which holds the API keys and does not keep a copy of your text.
Subscriptions
Purchases are handled by Apple and by RevenueCat, which tells the app whether your subscription is active. We never see your payment details.
What we don't do
- No accounts. No sign-up, no email required.
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
- No analytics or tracking SDKs.
- We never sell or share your information.
Children
Embark Bible is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
Deleting your information
Settings → Start over erases your journal, garden, streak, studies and highlights from the device. It cannot be undone. Deleting the app removes everything too.
