Terms & Conditions

The agreement between you and Alphabetski Inc. for the Embark Bible app.

Last updated 31 August 2026

These terms cover what you can expect from Embark Bible and what we expect from you. The short version: the Bible, your journal, your prayers and your garden are free and yours; Embark Premium is a subscription billed by Apple; and the app is a companion for your own reading, not a substitute for a pastor, a doctor or a counsellor.

Accepting these terms

By downloading or using Embark Bible you agree to these terms. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the app. If you're under the age at which you can agree to a contract where you live, use the app with a parent or guardian.

Your licence to use the app

Embark Bible is licensed to you, not sold. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, in line with the App Store Terms of Service and Apple's Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement.

You may not copy, resell, reverse-engineer, or redistribute the app or its artwork, characters, audio or written content, except where that restriction is void under the law that applies to you.

What's free

The full Bible, voice and text journaling, guided prayers and your garden are free, with no advertising. We intend to keep them free. If that ever changes, it will not apply retroactively to content you have already created.

Embark Premium

Embark Premium is an auto-renewing subscription:

  • $6.99 per week
  • $19.99 per month
  • $99.99 per year

Prices are in US dollars and may differ in your region; the App Store shows the exact price and currency before you confirm. New subscribers may be offered a 7-day free trial. If you buy a subscription during a free trial, any unused portion of that trial is forfeited.

Renewals. Your subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Apple charges your account for the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends. Manage or cancel it in iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions — cancelling in the app alone does not stop billing.

Payments and refunds are handled by Apple, not by us. We never see your payment details. Refund requests go to Apple, under Apple's Media Services Terms. RevenueCat tells the app whether your subscription is currently active; see our privacy policy for what that involves.

Your journal and your garden

What you write and say is yours. We claim no ownership of your journal entries, the feelings you log, your highlights or your garden, and we do not use them to train models.

Because this content is stored on your device and not on our servers, we cannot recover it for you. If you delete the app, use Settings → Start over, or lose the device without a backup, it is gone. Keeping a device backup is up to you.

Prayers, conversations and other AI-written text

Guided prayers and conversations with the animal characters are generated by AI. They are grounded in Scripture and written to be gentle and useful, but they are produced by software and can be wrong, odd, or theologically off. Treat them as a prompt for your own reflection and reading, not as authoritative teaching.

Embark Bible is not pastoral, medical, psychological or legal advice, and it is not a crisis service. If you are unwell or in danger, please contact a qualified professional or your local emergency number.

Scripture

The Berean Standard Bible is in the public domain and is bundled with the app.

New Living Translation. Scripture quotations marked NLT are taken from the Holy Bible, New Living Translation, copyright ©1996, 2004, 2015 by Tyndale House Foundation. Used by permission of Tyndale House Publishers, Carol Stream, Illinois 60188. All rights reserved.

Using the app properly

Please don't:

  • Break the law, or use the app to harm or harass anyone
  • Try to interfere with, overload or gain unauthorised access to the app or the server that carries its requests
  • Scrape, bulk-extract or resell the app's Scripture text, audio, artwork or characters
  • Use the character conversations to generate content that is unlawful, abusive or designed to deceive others

We may limit or end access to the online features if they are being abused in a way that threatens the service for everyone else.

The app will change

We add, alter and retire features. Some parts need the internet and depend on services we don't control, so they may be unavailable at times. We don't promise the app will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Disclaimer

To the fullest extent the law allows, Embark Bible is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

Some jurisdictions don't allow certain warranties to be excluded, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing here limits any consumer rights you have that cannot be waived.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Alphabetski Inc. is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data or lost profits, arising out of your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim, which for most people is nothing.

Apple

Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for the app or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide support for it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms, and may enforce them against you.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app changes. The date at the top shows the current version, and material changes will be noted in the app or here. Continuing to use Embark Bible after a change means you accept the updated terms.
